POSHO Residential Safety Inspection Checklist
by Samson Shankaran, from the Community
This POSHO residential safety inspection checklist helps posts meet 15 FAM requirements for safe and compliant housing. It guides POSHOs in assessing and documenting safety, health, fire, and environmental hazards before occupancy for US Government owned, leased, and LQA residences. Coverage includes fuel burning appliances, generators, gas service, fire and life safety, water heater protection, tempered glass, garage doors, electrical systems, fall protection, child safety, swimming pools, elevators, environmental risks such as air quality, asbestos, lead paint, pesticides, water quality, and seismic considerations. Use it to verify hazards are controlled or eliminated and to document certification prior to occupancy.
