Outdoor Swimming Pool Seasonal Commissioning Checklist
by Tamara Fawcett, from the Community
This seasonal commissioning checklist helps facility operators prepare outdoor swimming pools for opening. It covers administration and management systems, emergency action plans, OH&S policies, staff training, and record keeping. Inspect housekeeping, change rooms, and grounds, and verify signage for rules, pricing, and HAZCHEM notices. Review plant room readiness, PPE, chemical storage, MSDS availability, and bunding. Confirm first aid supplies, rescue gear, oxygen and defibrillator status, and maintenance tasks. Assess water quality, cleanliness of the shell and tiles, and electrical compliance including RCDs and extinguishers. Use this template to identify issues and ensure the pool is safe and compliant to open for the season.
