Use this pre-start checklist to verify an atrium down escalator is safe and ready for public use. Inspect comb plates and yellow demarcation lines, child guards and outer guards, step plates for damage and gaps, access and egress areas, handrail condition and speed alignment, side lighting and overhead lighting, and listen for unusual noise.
