Safety Inspection: Area, Task or Equipment
by Teale Hamilton, from the Community
Conduct comprehensive safety inspections across areas, tasks, or equipment with a flexible checklist that supports site audits and safety interactions. Capture locations, asset IDs, current status, and follow-up actions. Assess high-risk activities including cranes and lifting, working at heights, confined spaces, inrush and outburst, hot work, blasting and explosives, vehicle interaction, and geotechnical hazards. Verify permits, isolations, and documentation such as STAR and JSA. Review supervision quality, task understanding, adherence to SHMS, equipment compliance, PPE, housekeeping, and worker competencies. For equipment, record prestarts, condition, ownership, and site compliance. Optionally apply the Supervision Safe Work Model to confirm competent people, safe work practices, fit-for-purpose equipment, and controlled work environments.
