MEI Safety Checklist for AMS Labs

This MEI safety checklist for AMS laboratories helps SHAPP team members conduct comprehensive lab inspections. It covers emergency evacuation routes and alarms, clear signage, and unobstructed exits; electrical safety including cords, breakers, grounding, and waterproofing in wet areas; housekeeping standards, spill control, and drainage; safe walking surfaces and stairways with guardrails, headroom, and non-slip treads; adequate lighting and protection for temporary lights; chemical management with proper labeling and MSDS awareness; personal protective equipment fit, condition, and correct use for eyes, face, head, feet, hearing, and hands; safe storage practices and material handling aids; and machine and tool safety including training, guarding, clearance, emergency shutoffs, and lockout tagout. The checklist also prompts verification of maintenance records and provides an area to note improvements.
