Use this pre-use inspection checklist to ensure hand and power tools are safe and fit for purpose before starting work. Capture job details and list the tools to be used. Check for common hazards including damaged blades or bits, frayed cords, worn handles, missing guards, leaks, and excessive wear on tips and gripping surfaces. Confirm PAT testing and that charging units are in date. Verify guards and moving parts, insulation and housings, and cleanliness. Record defects, attach photos, and decide whether tools require repair or replacement. Obtain inspector name and signature for completion.
