by Daniel Mohs, from the Community
This short 2024 checklist helps assess network equipment rooms for security, environmental conditions, and compliance. Inspect doors and access control, physical condition of floors, walls, ceilings, cooling and humidity, fire detection and suppression, and backup power. Verify UPS status, equipment mounting, seismic stability, and storage practices. Check grounding and bonding of racks, cabinets, and ladder racking, and review cabling and power management. Include photos, update the room drawing, and document issues, corrective actions, and sign off. Optional sections cover PBX, UPS, fire life safety, and telecom rooms.
