Internal Blood Borne Pathogen Program Audit
by Aaron Barkley, from the Community
Use this internal audit template to evaluate compliance with the OSHA 1910.1030 blood borne pathogens standard. Verify annual training for affected and authorized employees, the presence and yearly review of an exposure control plan, exposure determination, and universal precautions. Check PPE requirements, handwashing access, sharps handling and containers, decontamination schedules, regulated waste procedures, and sharps injury logs. Confirm employee knowledge of BBP risks, proper PPE selection and disposal, and hand hygiene. Review documentation and retention including Hepatitis B vaccination, medical evaluations, training records, and written opinions to support infection control readiness.
