Critical Care NICU WalkRound Cross Audit Checklist
by Cherry Rose Bornea, from the Community
This neonatal intensive care unit cross-audit checklist helps unit managers and clinical leads verify critical care readiness. It covers isolation capacity including at least one negative-pressure room; availability and functionality of ventilators, suction, airway sets, crash cart with defibrillator and neonatal medications, infant resuscitators, incubators and portable incubator with ventilator; patient monitoring devices such as ECG, pulse oximetry, vital signs and automated blood pressure; IV infusion and transfusion pumps; daily operational checks; cleaning and disinfection protocols; equipment for safe patient transport; and access to laboratory and imaging services. It reinforces strict infection control oversight to ensure neonatal safety and compliance during WalkRounds.
