Remote Automatic Weather Stations Checklist
by Glenn Thompson, from the Community
Use this inspection checklist to assess remote automatic weather stations and document condition, function, and safety. Verify rain gauge cleanliness and leveling, check anemometer function and vane alignment, inspect temperature and relative humidity sensors and radiation screen, and confirm battery terminals and voltage. Review solar panel orientation, integrity, cabling, and output; ensure the data logger cabinet is dry, secure, and corrosion-free. Check mast stays, enclosure security, vegetation clearance, and note NZTM grid reference. Capture comments, photos, and signatures for traceable reporting.
