Chains, Slings and Wire Rope Inspection

This template supports quarterly inspections of chains, slings, wire rope and fiber rope used for lifting. Inspectors can record ID codes, serial numbers, previous and current measurements, reach and overall condition. Any device that is damaged or has unreadable capacity ratings should be tagged and removed from service until replaced or repaired.

Lift Sling and Wire Rope Inspection
This lift sling and wire rope inspection checklist helps teams assess the condition of synthetic, chain, and wire slings before use. Record truck or trailer number, client or site, date, and preparer. For synthetic slings, check wear, broken stitches, heat or chemical damage, holes, cuts or snags, end fittings, and data tags to decide if the sling remains in service. For wire rope, capture certification details, length and size options, and evaluate for broken wires, abrasions, corrosion, distortion, damaged ends, and capacity tag. For chain slings, record length and size and inspect for damage indicators. Include manufacturer name, serial numbers, comments, and inspector name to complete a traceable, compliant inspection.
