Junction City Substation Inspection Checklist
by Jeff Jones, from the Community
Use this monthly substation inspection template to assess yard security, fences, chains and locks, lighting and cameras, control house and grounds, and equipment including switches, bus and insulators, reclosers and feeders. Record demand amps by phase, lamp tests, targets, and notes. Check regulator condition and controls, counters, bandwidth and neutral tests. Verify transformer readings (nitrogen pressure and level, winding and liquid temperatures, bushing oil level), perform thermal checks, run fans, and inspect the circuit switcher and SF6 levels. Log battery status and charger operation, attach photos, mark critical items, and set corrective actions and timelines.
