BLEC ERB Substation Inspection Checklist

This monthly substation inspection checklist helps utilities systematically assess yard security and housekeeping, including gates, chains, locks, fencing, and security lights and cameras. Inspect grounds for gravel coverage, weeds, and wildlife hazards. Evaluate equipment such as switches, structures, bus and insulators for cracks, connections, and cleanliness. Record recloser status and feeder details, check regulators for physical condition, dial settings, counters, bandwidth and neutral tests, and lamp tests. Verify transformer nitrogen pressure, liquid temperatures, and hotspots using a heat gun. Document findings with photos, mark critical items, and create a plan of action with timelines to repair, consult, or monitor.
