ATEX Inspection Checklist for Hazardous Areas
by Nicholas Bray, from the Community
This ATEX inspection checklist helps teams evaluate electrical and mechanical apparatus in hazardous areas and ensure compliance with ATEX requirements. It covers area classification for zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, and 22, verification of documentation and labeling, equipment protection and temperature class, IP rating, integrity of earthing and bonding, cable condition and sealing, breathing and draining devices, and suitability of apparatus for the classified zone. The checklist also guides physical checks, isolation and shutdown where required, recording of certificate numbers, photo evidence, and sign off of completed inspections and repairs. Suitable for energy, oil and gas, chemical, biogas, and wastewater facilities.
