Campus Lab Audit 2019 Checklist

Conduct a comprehensive campus laboratory audit to ensure compliance with EHS requirements. This checklist covers lab signage, housekeeping, fire and life safety, testing and documentation of emergency eyewash, showers, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, and autoclaves. Verify staff training records, completion of the Unit Specific Plan, and standard operating procedures for hazardous chemicals, equipment, and processes. Review chemical and radioactive inventory in systems such as BioRAFT and CHIMS, confirm appropriate PPE selection and use, and check segregation, storage, and disposal of hazardous, biological, and radioactive materials. Assess waste management practices, decontamination of work surfaces and equipment, and access security in line with institutional policy. Use the tool to perform annual self inspections and close out corrective actions.
