Annual Tree Inspection Checklist for Schools
by Joanne Wallbridge, from the Community
Use this annual tree inspection checklist to help NSW school sites identify tree hazards and document actions. It covers high, moderate, and low usage areas and common defects including soil movement and root lifting, dead branches, cracks, weak branches, decay, root problems, poor architecture such as leaning trees, cankers, trees in decline, storm damage, and neighboring trees. The checklist guides when to escalate to an AQF5 arborist inspection and records actions undertaken by the school. Sections include photo capture, notes, and a declaration by the principal or site manager in line with Department of Education guidelines.
