Work Base Site Safety Checklist
Use this checklist to assess the safety of a work based learning site before placing students. It covers lighting, ventilation, cleanliness, and clearly marked exits and restricted areas. Confirm acceptable noise levels, accident procedures, and supervisor awareness of close supervision expectations and behavior standards. Verify restrictions for minors, including prohibitions on heavy equipment, power driven machinery, hazardous substances, vehicle use, and elevated work. Check availability and condition of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and a phone for emergencies. Require appropriate PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves, boots, coveralls, and rain gear.
