Safety Net Hand Over and In Use Inspections
by Lucian Galan, from the Community
Use this weekly safety net hand over and in use inspection checklist to verify fall protection systems on construction sites. The form guides you through checks for visual damage, debris in the nets, gaps between the net and the structure, correct net sag of 5 to 10 percent, and adequate overlaps. Confirm lacing uses 8 mm lacing or 12 mm rope ties through every other mesh with correctly tied knots, and that all nets are attached to the structure or attachment devices properly. Ensure excess net is gathered or under rolled where necessary, verify that no materials are within 3 meters below the netted area at handover, and assess whether operatives working above the nets require additional safety measures. Capture date and time, site name, contractor details, remedial actions, and signatures to document compliance and continuous improvement.
