Podium Safety Toolbox Talk

Use this toolbox talk to brief teams on the safe use of podiums as working platforms. It covers planning and supervision, checking SWL and following manufacturer guidelines, and ensuring a competent person erects and dismantles units. Workers are guided to inspect podiums before use, confirm brakes and locking devices function, wheels rotate freely, bracing and platforms are in place, and access and egress are suitable. It stresses level, firm surfaces, locking wheels, using only integral steps, and never resting or using ladders on podiums. Before moving, remove people and materials, close the gate, push from the base, avoid potholes and overhead hazards such as power lines. Podiums should be at least 600 mm wide and the gate must be closed before use.
