Manual Handling TRM Checklist (October 2023)
by Alexandra Jenkins, from the Community
Use this manual handling TRM checklist to identify and control risks on construction sites. Verify that risk assessments are completed and controls implemented, including the use and inspection of mechanical aids such as hoists, telehandlers, wheelbarrows, and sack barrows. Confirm worker training on safe lifting techniques and awareness of hazards, manage repetitive tasks and task rotation, and apply mechanical methods for installing kerbs. Ensure materials are ordered in safe-to-lift sizes, gas cylinders are safely handled and transported, objects over 20 kg are two-person lifts when not mechanically lifted, appropriate PPE is used, and health monitoring encourages early reporting of musculoskeletal symptoms.
