by Murray Campbell, from the Community
This worksite HSE inspection checklist supports managers and team leaders conducting monthly checks on civil works and local government job sites. It covers visitor sign-in and hazard identification, adherence to safety rules, traffic management plans, plant and equipment prestarts, operator competency and seatbelt use, safe distances from overhead lines, SWMS and JSAs, PPE, sanitary facilities, electrical safety with RCDs, manual handling and lifting gear checks. It also verifies management of high-risk work, permits near power or gas, edge protection and excavations with shoring, Dial Before You Dig, safe material storage, and after-hours site protection. Environmental controls include EMP compliance, sediment and runoff control, heritage considerations, chemical storage and spill kits, and energy minimization. Emergency readiness checks communications, signage, fire extinguishers, first aid, and documented procedures, with auditor and supervisor sign-off.
