Marine Confined Space Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
by Paul Boone, from the Community
This Job Safety Analysis (JSA) template is designed for marine confined space work on vessels, barges, and similar environments. It guides crews to evaluate the work area, determine if a permit is required, capture initial and continuous atmospheric monitoring (Oxygen, LEL, CO, H2S), assign entrants, attendants, supervisors, and rescue teams, and document rescue equipment and plans. The checklist covers coordination with other trades, PPE requirements, tool inspections, evacuation routes, and training needs. A comprehensive hazard checklist (e.g., man overboard, elevated work, rigging, scaffolding, electrical, chemicals) and step-by-step task, hazards, and controls sections help establish effective risk controls before work begins. Digital signatures and worker attendance are included for accountability.
