Insulation and Vapour Barrier Inspection Checklist

Use this checklist to inspect insulation and vapour barrier installation before covering work. Verify framing notes, presence of exterior cladding or approved weather protection, any new notching or cutting of framing, sealing of penetrations, hose bib frost protection, caulking around windows and doors, fire stopping, plate sealing, attic hatch sizing, protection of vents and fireplaces, and that ducting in the attic is insulated and supported. Confirm crawlspace conditioning, foundation rigid insulation at minimum R12 from top of wall to 18 inches below grade, and that access points are sealed. Record inspection status, re-inspection needs, inspector name, date, and signature.
