Evaluate a host employer’s safety readiness for apprentices and trainees with this WHS consultation site visit checklist. Review the presence of a current WHS policy, a safety management system and any accreditation (e.g., AS 4801, ISO 14001). Verify contacts for safety matters and assess high‑risk work controls for forklifts, EWPs (boom >11 m), asbestos, scaffolding/rigging, cranes, demolition, boilers/turbines and other plant. Confirm training and documentation for working at heights, electrical and construction tasks, noise, angle grinders, confined spaces, working alone, chemicals, spray painting and atmospheric contaminants. Check evidence of signage, evacuation plans, fire fighting and first aid equipment, traffic management, housekeeping standards and supervisor responsibilities.
