This heavy equipment prestart checklist helps operators verify machine readiness and safety before each shift. Record project and machine details, SMU hours, and service status, then inspect critical systems including transmission, steering, hydraulics, coolant, brakes, horns, reverse alarms, seatbelts, radios, and beacons. Check tyres or tracks, undercarriage, belts, fuel, windows and mirrors, lights, cutting edges or GET, air conditioning, and look for leaks. Confirm bucket, blade, or tub condition and operation, gauge functionality, and the presence of a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. Use comments to note defects and classify Category A faults requiring sign-off or Category B faults requiring notification.
