General Plant Pre-Start Inspection Checklist
by Martin Leonard, from the Community
This general plant pre-start inspection checklist helps verify that mobile plant and equipment are safe and ready for use. It covers logbooks and service history, guarding, safe access and egress, operator seating and controls, and clear safety instructions. It includes cabin and housekeeping checks, oil leaks, and compliance with GA1 where required. For mobile plant, it verifies ROPS and operator restraint, mirrors, reversing cameras, horns and motion alarms, and flashing beacons. For lifting activities, it checks SWL markings, manufacturer crane charts, and safe working limits for loaders, excavators, cranes, and JCBs.
