by John Portarianos, from the Community
This AS1926.1-1986 pool and spa barrier inspection checklist helps verify residential barrier compliance against Australian Standards and building regulations. Review gate swing direction, self-closing and self-latching mechanisms, latch height (1500mm or more), gate height (1200mm or more), hinge and rail spacing, gaps under gates and fences (under 100mm), vertical spacing (under 100mm), and removal of climbable objects within required clear zones (300mm and 1200mm). Document findings, note immediate hazards, capture photos, and track rectifications to support reinspection and issuance of a Certificate of Compliance.
