Unsealed Roads Level 1 Visual Inspection Report
by sam colwell, from the Community
This Level 1 visual inspection template helps crews assess the condition of unsealed roads and document issues affecting safety and usability. Capture location, chainage, terrain, cross-fall and formation details, then evaluate defects such as loss of fines, gravel loss, corrugations, potholes, rutting, and erosion. Record affected lengths, widths and depths, apply severity ratings, and select recommended rectification actions, from regrading and compaction to re-gravelling, stabilization and drainage improvements. Include photos, comments and signatures, and perform a vulnerability assessment for weather impacts, flooding risk, drainage adequacy, and network criticality to prioritize maintenance and ensure road accessibility.
