This Shunter Driving Assessment checklist helps assess yard shunter competence and safety. It covers admin details and eyesight checks, comprehensive pre-use inspections (tyres, lamps, oil and coolant levels, mud guards, wipers, hydraulic oil, fuel, seats, seatbelts, mirrors), and detailed coupling and uncoupling procedures. Assessors rate performance across alignment, connection testing, winding legs, trailer brake use, and suzie connections. Maneuvering skills include forward parking and controlled reverse on offside and nearside with proper observation. The form records comments and requires signatures from assessor and trainee.
