PWC Traffic Control Site Visit Audit Checklist
by Felino Molina, from the Community
This PWC Traffic Control Site Visit Audit checklist helps verify safe and compliant traffic management at roadwork sites. It covers pre-work notifications and approvals, the presence and implementation of a current traffic management plan, worker consultation and JSEA completion, controller training and certification, and adequate PPE. It includes checks for correct speed zones, signage setup and maintenance, barriers, arrow boards and VMS, stop slow bats, communication methods, rest breaks, and access to amenities. Night work controls address lighting, visibility, and lighted wands. The audit also reviews pedestrian and cyclist protection, public transport impacts, segregation from plant with spotters where needed, and controls for common hazards such as low light, heat, weather, slips, noise, and manual handling. Procedures for intermittent and short-term work in traffic and mobile inspections are also assessed.
