Driving and Driver Knowledge Assessment
by Giancarlo Marchini, from the Community
Use this driver knowledge assessment to evaluate professional drivers during recruitment, onboarding, or refresher training. The template covers driver identity and right to work verification (licence check, CPC, Digi and ADR cards), vehicle and trailer checks, driving control and maneuvers (mirrors, signaling, speed, junctions, positioning, coupling and uncoupling), and a structured knowledge questionnaire. Questions span EU Driver Hours and the Road Transport Working Time Directive, rest and break requirements, LGV speed limits, start of shift circle checks, tyre depth, defect reporting, mobile phone penalties, and safe driving expectations. Instructors can record observations, rate awareness and planning, add comments, and recommend suitability for employment, with signatures from both driver and instructor.
