Luminator Destination Signs with INFOtransit FAI Inspection
by Anthony Tapia, from the Community
This first article inspection checklist is designed for Luminator destination signs and INFOtransit systems on transit buses. It covers physical installation of monitors, multimedia computer and GPS/WLAN antennas, secure cabling, and mounting surfaces. Functional tests include master run modes, GPS reception, stop request logic, camera feeds, video and audio playback, and monitor blanking behavior. Software checks verify versions, configurations, IP addresses for MCU, VAS controller, and each monitor, plus vehicle ID, time, and GPS coordinates. Electrical characteristics confirm breaker ratings, wire gauge, and abrasion protection. Destination sign tests validate dimming via photocell, emergency messaging, test patterns, AVL code selection, CAD/AVL integration, RAM server connection, and controlled shutdown. Final sections capture sign date codes and required sign‑offs from Luminator and OEM/agency representatives.
