Multi-Combination Vehicle Verification of Competency
by Daniel Slade, from the Community
This Verification of Competency template assesses an operator’s ability to safely operate multi-combination vehicles and road trains in mining and haul environments. It includes oral questions on mine operating environments, communication and coordination, vehicle specifications, and permit requirements. Practical sections guide pre-start checks, startup procedures, on-road operation, and park-up and shutdown. The checklist reinforces WA road rules, site policies, speed and gear selection, IVMS login, tyre checks, and hazard controls. A nationally recognised MC licence is required, an 80 percent pass mark applies, and assessor and trainee sign-offs complete the record.
