FMG Drilling Equipment Inspection Checklist
by Brett Leppinus, from the Community
This FMG drilling equipment inspection checklist helps mining crews verify compliance and safety across drilling operations. It covers crew training and inductions, exclusion zones, guarding of moving and hot parts, rod handling and rod cages, lifting gear identification and testing, winch ropes and limiters, emergency stops and isolation, fire protection, lighting, communications, access and walkways, signage, and classified plant. It includes specific checks for air drill rigs, compressors and boosters, diamond core rigs, and helicopter-transportable equipment. Maintenance requirements include NDT intervals, weekly mast inspections, and change management for modifications. Programs and systems span emergency response, hazardous substances, spill control, working at heights, journey and heat management, and personnel accountability.
