DNM Wet Weather Checklist

This mine wet weather checklist helps supervisors prepare, operate and recover safely during rain events. It covers HSEC controls, bunding and drainage on ramps, dumps and dig floors, remediation of high and low walls, and identification of low spots. Plan maintenance, fuel and stage equipment, and hotseat dozers and diggers. During wet weather, close normal haul circuits, maintain emergency access, restrict pit entry to authorized workers, and identify training opportunities. After rain, inspect circuits, complete pre-starts, and set speed and traction zones for a safe return to full operation.

Verify soil type, protective systems such as sloping, benching, shoring, or certified trench shields, and confirm utilities are located and protected. Check access and egress with secured ladders or engineered ramps, exclusion zones, and traffic controls. Review equipment and lifting requirements, PPE, and guard against hazardous atmospheres with testing and ventilation where needed. Include wet weather precautions, water removal, and post-rain inspections.
