This PUWER assessment checklist helps organizations verify compliance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. It guides auditors through equipment identification, location, and affected persons; mechanical, electrical, and other hazard checks; and regulatory requirements including suitability (Reg 4), maintenance and inspection (Regs 5-6), competency and training (Regs 7-9), CE conformity (Reg 10), guarding and interlocks (Reg 11), specific hazards (Reg 12), temperature risks (Reg 13), starting and stop controls (Regs 14-16), control labeling and fail-safe design (Regs 17-18), isolation and energy control (Reg 19), stability, lighting, and maintenance operations (Regs 20-22). Includes risk rating, overall assessment, next review date, and sign-off.
