Press Brake Service and Inspection Checklist
by Mark Waldner, from the Community
This press brake service and inspection checklist helps maintenance teams and operators keep metal fabrication equipment safe, reliable, and compliant. It covers routine and periodic tasks including testing safety curtains, checking foot pedal wiring and function, cleaning cabinet condensers, replacing filter mats, checking oil levels, inspecting for hydraulic leaks, and cleaning or blowing out hydraulic condensers. Lubrication steps include the ram (Y-axis) and rear backgauges, plus greasing the Z‑axis gear rack. Mechanical checks include backgauge mounts, toothed belts on all axes, upper and lower beam guides, and stops or bumpers. Annual service items such as changing hydraulic fluid filters and replacing or cleaning tank breathers are included, along with guidance for over‑300‑hour service intervals. Use this template to schedule, record findings, and document corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve machine safety.
