ISO 14001:2015 Internal Audit Checklist
by Noorazila Adzhar, from the Community
This ISO 14001:2015 internal audit checklist helps assess environmental management across production operations. It covers identification of environmental aspects, compliance obligations for air, water, land and noise, and control of scheduled wastes such as SW409 and SW410. Verify chemical management including SDS currency, labeling and updated lists, plus any emissions to atmosphere, water discharge risks and community impact. Evaluate environmental objectives and staff participation, competency and licensing for hazardous waste handlers and forklift operators, awareness and briefings, and communication channels. Review documented information like EASI registers, spill kit inspections, HSE policy and maintenance records. Assess operational planning and control, autonomous and preventive maintenance, 5S implementation, and emergency preparedness including fire drills, spill response, extinguisher condition, spill kit contents and monthly inspections.
