Gemba Walk Checklist

This Gemba Walk checklist helps leaders and supervisors conduct focused observations on the production floor to support Lean and continuous improvement. Use it to verify PPE use, review HVAC conditions, check safety showers and eyewash stations, confirm clear emergency exits and walkways, and assess electrical safety including clearances, GFCI needs, and enclosure knockouts. Inspect material storage and flammable cabinets, look for spills or leaks, evaluate overall fit and finish, examine walking and working surfaces, and confirm fire extinguishers are inspected and accessible. Validate lockout/tagout labeling, check door and window condition and operation, and ensure the standard work area is clean, organized, and unobstructed. Record observations and follow up with corrective actions to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
