Environmental Audit Checklist for Mechanical Workshops
by Luthando Matiwane, from the Community
This Environmental Audit Checklist helps assess compliance and environmental performance in a mechanical repair workshop. It covers environmental management planning, site layout and access control, waste segregation and disposal records, and spill response readiness. It includes checks for pollution prevention across soil, water, air, and noise, as well as stormwater management and water conservation. Hazardous materials storage, MSDS availability, inventory control, and staff training are addressed. The checklist also reviews energy efficiency practices, equipment maintenance, ongoing training and incident reporting, protection of local biodiversity, and post-construction restoration planning.
