General Workplace Safety Audit Checklist

This general workplace audit helps non-specialists assess core safety controls across any facility. Review previous findings, confirm evacuation planning and fire protection, and verify general and emergency lighting. Check building safety including floors, walkways, stairs, railings, and loading areas. Inspect workbenches, housekeeping, storage design, and racking. Evaluate machinery guarding, lockout procedures, operator training, space, and noise. Cover electrical safety and shutdowns. Manage chemicals with COSHH, labeling, MSDS, PPE, and ventilation.
