The aim of the Project is to specifically: obtain an insight into the perceived barriers and challenges to meet safety standards the industry encounters or / obtain an insight into the barriers and challenges industry face managing safety to enforce compliance with WHS and Workers Compensation Legislation where necessary educate industry on the use of risk management principles educate the industry on workers compensation and RTW requirements provide guidance material that will enable industry and SWNSW to effectively and proactively engage discuss and encourage use of the risk management principles in this sector empower the consumer to understand their rights when engaging contractors to perform tree maintenance work, in particular tree trimming and pruning Target issues have been identified and are the focus of the program: Using a risk management approach i.e. when conducting site assessments which includes a visual tree assessment, maintenance of plant including pre-start safety checks, which includes testing emergency and safety devices on plant and equipment, workers Compensation requirements, sun safety.
