Site Cybersecurity Assessment Checklist
by Sivaprakash Parupudi, from the Community
This site assessment checklist helps evaluate cybersecurity and network readiness at operational sites. It guides O and M teams and engineers through validating identity management, password policies, and exposure of default credentials. Capture network documentation and diagrams, internet service and ISP router credentials, and WiFi details. Record the presence and models of routers, switches, firewalls, and overall topology, plus VPN availability and SCADA IP ranges. Review desktop and server assets, operating systems, user access, and options for remote access. Confirm what access a cyber energy engineer can obtain for network and host systems. Note site entry requirements like PPE and inductions. Assess cellular coverage and whether external antennas are needed. Finally, collect helpful site documents, recent photos of equipment and comms rooms, or videos to prepare for visits.
