This monthly substation report checklist helps power utilities standardize inspections across multiple sites. Record substation and area details, inspection dates, and inspector information. Assess security and safety items including fence bonding to grid, bonding straps on gates, OCRs bonded, gate locks and lubrication, warning and identification signage, and fence repair needs. Capture site upkeep such as vegetation control, entry road rock and repairs, mowing, and fill requirements. Verify equipment status: lights, seasonal cooling fan operation, hot stick condition and storage, insulator chips, and 34.5 kV terminator leaks. For transformers, document NP number, main tank oil level and temperatures, vacuum pressure, bushing oil levels, condition of primary and secondary bushings and arrestors, tank leaks, and bonding to grid for multiple units.
