Crew Audit for Metering and Utility Specialists
by Tom Williams, from the Community
This crew audit checklist supports utility metering crews and contractors in the field. It captures job details and conditions, applies life saving rules (gloves, cover up, shunts, tags), and verifies job preparation such as tailgate briefings, radio checks, and CMV pre trips. It reviews PPE and FR clothing, inspections of rubber gloves and sleeves, fall protection, vehicle setup and storage, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits. Traffic control practices are checked including beacons, cones, signage, vests, and flaggers. General work practices cover tool condition, live line tool testing, hand lines, ladders, adequate cover up, qualifications, guarding, and crew communication including direction of feed and nearest protection device. The audit concludes with notes, photos, and verification signatures to document safe work procedures.
