by Chris Haefele, from the Community
Use this subcontractor safety audit to evaluate performance and compliance on construction projects. The checklist covers site facilities and amenities, traffic control, personal protective equipment, fire protection, electrical tools and tagging, plant and equipment condition, hazardous substances and MSDS, dewatering and drainage, materials storage, and first aid readiness. It also assesses perimeter protection and temporary works, excavation design and support, emergency procedures, access and egress, welding and gas cutting setups, daily hazard identification, permits for isolation and confined spaces, communications, worker training and competence, environmental factors such as noise and dust, scaffolding, tunnel entry controls, crane and rigging operations, and elevated work platforms. Record observations, corrective actions, responsible persons, and due dates to drive safety improvements and meet project and legal requirements.
