Construction WHS Tender Review Checklist
by Adrian Niebling, from the Community
This WHS tender review checklist helps principal contractors and procurement decision-makers evaluate contractor safety systems before awarding work. It covers WHS policy and management plans, responsibilities, consultation, and general procedures. Sections include SWMS for high risk construction work, permits (excavation, hot work, lockout), incident reporting, plant safety and maintenance, hazardous substances and SDS, manual handling controls, risk assessments, PPE requirements, worker training and competencies, toolbox talks, site inductions, inspections and hazard reporting, HSRs and safety personnel, performance monitoring and notices, and required insurances and registrations. Use it to verify documentation, compliance and evidence from tenderers across construction work scopes.
