MEWP Pre-Use Inspection Checklist
by Edward Sutherland CMIOSH DipRSA, from the Community
This MEWP pre-use inspection checklist helps operators verify equipment safety and readiness before work. It covers documentation (thorough examination within six months, operator manual, rescue plan), wheels and tyres, engine and battery condition, hydraulics, hoses and cables, outriggers and stabilisers, chassis and boom, platform or cage integrity, and decals and signage. Function checks include security devices, emergency stops and lowering systems, all lift and travel controls, alarms, limit switches, pothole protection, and axle or outrigger systems. Use it to capture machine details, PAL card information, photos, and ensure loads and wind limits are observed to maintain site safety and compliance.
