SHEQ Audit: Construction Project Site Checklist
by Michael Sanderson, from the Community
This SHEQ audit checklist helps teams evaluate safety, health, environment, and quality across construction project sites. Review site security and hoarding, welfare facilities, required safety documentation (insurances, policies, CPP, F10), inductions, RAMS, and training records. Verify first aid availability, manual handling, PPE compliance, scaffolding and edge protection, MEWP and ladder checks, and mobile plant controls. Cover permits to work (including hot works), excavation inspections, power tool condition and PAT testing, traffic management, fire safety arrangements, materials storage, chemicals and fuels, noise levels, safety signage, and overall housekeeping. Capture incidents and near misses, confirm ITPs and toolbox talks, and check access, egress, and exclusion zones to drive continual improvement.
