Scissor Lift Safety Checklist

by Rick Haertel, from the Community

Downloads: 10+

Use this scissor lift safety checklist to confirm a lift is safe and ready before use. The template guides a thorough pre use inspection covering operating and emergency controls, safety devices, and personal protective equipment. It prompts checks on platform condition and housekeeping, fire extinguishers, tires and wheels, leaks in air, hydraulic and fuel systems, and any loose or missing parts. Inspect battery cables and wiring for damage, verify placards and capacity labels are legible, and confirm the operating manual is present in a weatherproof container. Assess the guardrail system and lanyard attachment points, then test lower and platform controls. Review the work area for hazards such as drop offs, holes, debris, overhead power lines, high winds, poor ground support, and hazardous atmospheres. Record findings, note corrective actions, and complete sign off for compliance and accountability.
